June’s full moon is called the Strawberry Moon and rises a few weeks after the peak of the new moon on June 6 this year.
Compared to the radiant glow of its full moon counterpart, a new moon blends in with the night sky. Despite the faint appearance of a new moon from Earth, its astrological energy will be present and significant for all zodiac signs.
PEOPLE’s resident astrologer Kyle Thomas says new moon periods (which occur once every 28.5 days) “always open a door for us, depending on where it falls for our sun sign and in our birth charts.” He notes that there are “several astrological aspects” that especially color this lunation.
The new moon unites with Venus upon its arrival, which, according to Thomas, will “bring emotions, relationships and feelings to the forefront of our thoughts and lives.” However, this union will be at odds with Saturn, which he says can cause “delays, challenges, or frustrations” in our personal lives.
The planetary ruler of this lunation is Mercury, which will be united with Jupiter (the planet of luck and expansion) and will be connected at a “beautiful angle” to Pluto (the planet of transformation). Thomas says, “we could experience tremendous positive or professional growth” with “an optimistic mindset.”
Mars, meanwhile, clashes with Pluto, which Thomas says could “set tempers bubbling” around this time. “Trust your intuition now, but also use your communication skills to negotiate the best plans for the future,” he advises.
