Celebrities Front Row at Chanel’s Fall 2024 Ready-To-Wear Fashion Show Enjoy the Glow

It was all moody beach at Tuesday morning’s Chanel show, with creative director Virginie Viard setting her show against scenes of Deauville at sunset.

But Riley Keough has another sunset in mind: the upcoming film “Sunset Sasquatch,” in which she plays one of the mythical creatures.

The experience was transformative, she said, not only because of the costumes, which were all fur, but also because of the way it taught her to approach movement. The crew and cast, including Jesse Eisenberg and Kieran Culkin, went to ‘Sasquatch camp’. It meant eating with your hands a lot, Keough said.

“We actually had a lot of freedom in how we developed the Sasquatch movement because it’s not like we’re mimicking anything real,” she said. “It was hilarious and super fun. I recently found a video on my phone that was about 25 minutes long where we learned to eat like a Sasquatch during rehearsal. It’s completely crazy.”

What lessons can you learn from being a hairy monster? “It was honestly an incredibly satisfying experience because you can never do something like that unless you’re a real performer. So it was a lot of fun and incredibly difficult. In a way, I have so much respect for the work of creatures now that I know how difficult it is to perform in a suit and with prosthetics.

The film will be released in mid-April and Keough will likely stick to human clothing on the red carpet.

“The Joker: Part Deux” actress Zazie Beetz is between major projects. The sequel starring Joaquin Phoenix will be released in the fall.

She didn’t get the part after her first audition, asked for notes and then auditioned several times. “I felt so strong, I thought: I love this movie so much.” The first ‘no’ was a blow, but she didn’t want to accept that word as an answer. “I thought I could do it, I wanted to fight for it, and if I want to fight, I will fight for it.”

She got that role, opposite Joaquin Phoenix, which will be released this fall. After the Chanel show, Beetz is getting ready to spend three months in South Africa filming the new Gore Verbinski film “Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die” with Sam Rockwell. The caption “would make a great tattoo,” she joked.

The actress said it was love at first sight, read about a year ago. “Almost immediately – like a full word of ‘hell yeah,’” she said.

Beetz has an unusual preparation for the set in South Africa. “Now that Tyla is so popular, I’m like, yeah, I’m getting into the spirit.”

Australian actress Charlee Fraser is still basking in the big money from “Anyone but You,” her rom-com starring Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell.

“I open my phone and every time there is another milestone. I’m just like guys, it happens,” she said of the film, which surpassed the $200 million worldwide box office mark last week. It’s a unique position in a time when the conventional wisdom is that movie theaters are dead.

“[Rom-coms] I haven’t been there in a while, and I really think this was something we all needed right now too. A little love, a little fun,” she said. And a beach – although she joked that Australian beaches are “very plain and very cheap”, unlike the Chanel version that was on the big screen during the show.

Next, Fraser shifts into “Mad Max” mode, starring in the upcoming “Furiosa.” She grew up with an unusual set of skills, which she was able to put to work on set.

“I grew up with racing bikes. That was one of the things my dad taught me first: dirt bikes. That was just so lucky. I’m very grateful that I went into ‘Mad Max’ knowing that already, because much of the set is filled with these incredibly orchestrated cycling for the [‘Mad Max’] world.”

Filming in the post-apocalyptic world was very physical, and she underwent horse riding, firearms and martial arts training for the role.

She is in love with her character, who is still unnamed, and she doesn’t want to reveal more. “I feel deeply connected to her and I care about her very much.”

The last ‘Mad Max’ film premiered in Cannes, and this one has a chance too. Fraser hopes so. “In my mind I tell myself: yes, it happens. I prepare as if it will be there,” she said.

It has been announced that ‘Raised by Wolves’ star Amanda Collin will star in the second season of ‘House of the Dragon’.

Her floral trouser suit was part practical – it had deep pockets with even a special thumb holder, which she was keen to demonstrate – and part Elton John. The sparkle and light bell bottom had a happy, happy vibe, the exact opposite of the characters she usually plays.

As for “Dragon,” she would only confirm that she “took a little trip to London” during filming and that she is not playing the titular dragon.

She is working on a new heist film in which she plays a supporting role. “It’s always men doing cool things, like driving and shooting. I hope someone writes a female robbery story soon,” Collin said.

It was a big morning for singer Olivia Dean. Her very first time as a headliner, at the upcoming jazz festival Love Supreme Festival, was revealed just minutes before she arrived at the Chanel show. She will be on the bill with Dionne Warwick and Chaka Khan.

“It’s unbelievable. I showed my mom the poster before it was announced and she was crying,” Dean said of performing alongside the legends.

Proving that the world can be a very small place sometimes, Dean said she had met Khan before – at ‘Flippers Roller Boogie Palace’, Usher’s roller rink in Los Angeles. She thought the meeting was ‘crazy’.

Dean hopes to be just as crazy – at least fashion-wise – on stage at the festival.

‘I want something wild. I feel like when people come to see the show, I want to give him a show. That’s why I like to wear something that is very beautiful and chic, but still comfortable.”

Comfort was key to her Chanel look, which consisted of a swimsuit from the spring collection paired with a full skirt and flats. She also carried a mini bag that was so small it could only hold one lipstick.

“It’s all you need,” she said of her smoky tan.

British actress Jasmine Jobson, who has appeared in several British TV shows, is about to make it big with Oscar winner Andrea Arnold’s ‘Bird’. She stars in the drama with Barry Keoghan. Details remained under wraps, but she was full of praise for her costar Keoghan. “He’s doing so well,” she said after his “Saltburn” shout.

The film has been tipped for a spot in Cannes, but all Jobson would say is: “It’s going to be epic.”

Jobson predicts the same for her career after ‘Bird’ and the coming modernization of Hamlet. “I want my face everywhere, and then you can’t possibly not know who Jasmine Jobson is. Jobson, I’ll get the job done,” she joked. “I’m going to take over the world.

“I always try to remind myself that I am still West London Jazz,” she added. “Did little Jasmine ever think that I would change perception and participate in major fashion shows? No, I didn’t, just that it was a dream I never thought would happen. But here I am in this dream that I’ve had since I was a little girl, and it’s my reality now, and I love it.

The actress wants young dreamers to know that they should never give up. “Don’t be no-nonsense, just don’t think, just do,” she said. “You’re going to destroy it.” Her positivity radiated from the front row in the sunset glow.
