Luis Enrique: Quadruple possibility is ‘motivation’ for PSG

18:44 , George Flood

PSG could still end the 2023/24 season with a historic quadrupling of the trophy.

After winning the Trophee des Champions against Toulouse in January and clinching a twelfth Ligue 1 title last weekend, they remain clearly alive in the Champions League and will also take on Lyon in the Coupe de France later this month- final in Lille.

And head coach Luis Enrique admits the potential for such a feat provides his side with extra motivation ahead of the season.

“The quadruple? Of course we talk about it. It’s a motivation,” he said on Tuesday.

“It’s a way to write the history of the club and the history of the city. But the most important thing is not what we win, but how we win, how we play.”

Terzic warns Dortmund against fixating on Mbappé

18:27 , George Flood

Despite all the inevitable focus on Mbappe, Dortmund boss Edin Terzic has warned that his side should not be too preoccupied with that one threat against a team he says is ‘built’ to win the Champions League.

He said at last night’s pre-match press conference: “It’s the question you hear most: ‘How do you stop Kylian Mbappe?’

“But if you only focus on Kylian Mbappé, Ousmane Dembele will come [Goncalo] Ramos, or Vitinha, or [Achraf] Hakimi, or [Randal] Kolo Muani and all the others. They have incredible quality.

“If we want to concentrate on one thing, we have to concentrate on the ball.

“If we worry about the ball – there’s only one – then it’s much harder for them to score.”

Mbappé braced himself for the last chance at glory in the PSG Champions League

All eyes will once again be on one Kylian Mbappé tonight.

The Champions League is the only major trophy still eluding the superstar, who has one last chance to win the trophy with PSG before he leaves in the summer.

And it could well be future employers Real Madrid who stand in his way at the final hurdle.

Dortmund vs PSG prediction

PSG did not win any of their games away from home in the group stage, but responded by beating Real Sociedad and then Barcelona in Spain on their way to reaching the semi-finals.

Dortmund certainly need to take an advantage against France, but it is PSG who have the star quality in the forward areas to make the difference. They can take control of this tie.

PSG team news

Champions PSG rested a number of players in their 3-3 Ligue 1 relegation battle draw against Le Havre on Saturday, no doubt with this semi-final battle in mind.

But the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Lucas Hernandez should all return to Luis Enrique’s starting line-up tonight.

PSG remains without Presnel Kimpembe, Layvin Kurzawa and Sergio Rico due to injury.

Dortmund team news

A boost for Borussia Dortmund boss Edin Terzic comes from the fitness of veteran defender Mats Hummels, who was forced off in Saturday’s heavy 4-1 Bundesliga defeat to RB Leipzig but has been declared fit for tonight.

BVB captain Emre Can is back after a domestic suspension along with Chelsea loanee Ian Maatsen, while Donyell Malen and Sebastien Haller were also in training this week after injury.

The same also applies to Marcel Sabitzer, who has had to deal with illness.

However, Dortmund are still missing Algerian defender Ramy Bensebaini and teenage striker Julien Duranville.
