Ten miles of traffic jams at Dartford Crossing after car fire on M25

Motorists are facing around 10 miles of traffic jams around the Dartford Crossing on the M25, clockwise, following a vehicle fire.

All lanes were closed at 10.25am on the M25, clockwise, from Junction 1a (Swanscombe) to Junction 1b (A296 Princes Road, Dartford).

All four lanes were reopened around 12:35 p.m.

Queues formed around the Essex-Kent border after authorities closed the road at around 10.25am.

Elsewhere, traffic was queued for around four miles on the M25 anti-clockwise near Waltham Cross, north London, on Friday due to roadworks.

The slow-moving queue stretched from Junction 26 (Waltham Abbey) to Junction 25 (A10 Enfield) around a construction area, according to live data from Inrix.

On the Tube, the Northern line has suffered serious delays following a fire alarm at Colindale.

There is no overground service between West Croydon and Sydenham due to a signal failure. The disruption is expected to last until 3 p.m.

All other lines offer good service.

There are now two lanes closed on the M25 at Dartford – two reopened

There is traffic congestion and two lane closures due to vehicle fire on the M25 clockwise from J1a A206 (QE2 Bridge) to J1b A296 (Dartford).

There is congestion again as far as the J30 (A13 Lakeside) over the bridge.

Lanes one and two (of the four) will remain closed after a 25-minute wait until 10:45 am.

There is also a counter-clockwise queue due to a separate fault.

London Overground section suspended

There is currently no service between West Croydon and Sydenham due to a signal failure at West Croydon.

Transport for London has said that tickets will be accepted on the London Underground via any reasonable route.

Severe delays on the northern metro line after fire alarm

The Northern Tube line is no longer partially suspended but there are still delays following a fire alarm in Colindale.

The entire line appears to be related to the delays after the incident on Friday morning.

Traffic now up to 10 miles around Dartford

Traffic jams around the Dartford Crossing have now stretched to around 10 miles, live data shows.

After this morning’s fire, two lanes are available again, but traffic needs some time to adjust.

National Highways tweeted: “Delays on approach, please allow extra time for your journey.”

Now only minor delays on three metro lines

Previous issues that saw the northern section of the line suspended have now been resolved, according to data from Transport for London.

That line, plus the Piccadilly and Central, has now been shown to have minor delays.

This could mean metro trains are only delayed by a few minutes, if at all.

The Overground is still partially suspended.

There are still long delays and one lane closures on the M25 following a vehicle fire on the M25.

Four lanes were previously closed.

The delays are from junction 1a (A206 / QE2 Bridge) to junction 1b (A296 / Dartford).

There is now congestion half way back to J29 A127 Romford, back over the QE2 bridge.

Disruption between Peterborough and London Kings Cross

Disruption is expected on the LNER line between Peterborough and London Kings Cross until 2pm.

An incident in Huntington caused the delays, National Rail tweeted.

National highways are making progress in Dartford

Lane 1 (of 4) is closed on the M25 clockwise between J1A Dartford and J1B at Stone due to a vehicle fire.

Previously this was all four lanes.

Service contractors and traffic officers from the national highways are on site.

The organization tweeted: “Delay on approach, please allow extra time for your journey.”

There are now long delays on the M25 counterclockwise from J27 (M11) to J25 A10 (Enfield).

The delay is said to be due to a construction project

All lanes on the M25, clockwise, between J1A (Dartford) and J1B (Stone) have reopened following a vehicle fire.

At the top, all four lanes were closed.

The disruption in West Croydon will last until 3pm

Due to the signal failure there is currently no service to Sydenham.

Tree blocking railway in Hertfordshire on its way to Stansted Airport

Passengers heading to London Stansted Airport are seeing services delayed after a tree fell on the line from Liverpool Street.

The lines have reopened after a tree blocked the railway line at Sawbridgeworth in Hertfordshire.

Trains between Broxbourne and Bishops Stortford could still be canceled or delayed by up to 50 minutes while the service restores, Greater Anglia has warned.

The line continues beyond Stortford to Cambridge or Stansted Airport.

The line from London Liverpool Street to Cambridge and Stansted Airport was delayed following the incident in Hertfordshire.

There is still a 10 mile stretch of slow moving traffic across the Dartford Crossing, but it now takes around 25 minutes to complete the passage.

The delay is caused by an earlier van fire on the M25 just after junction 1.

There is now congestion to J29 A127 Romford, back over the QE2 bridge.
