One of the most common beliefs about beauty is that quality is determined by price. “You get what you pay for. Pay cheap, pay twice.” Whatever your opinion on that philosophy, Beauty Pie is living proof that this isn’t always the case. You’ve probably heard of it; after all, it’s one of the most disruptive brands to enter the beauty world in the last decade (at least).

But if you’ve yet to try Beauty Pie and are wondering whether you should invest in a membership – or you’ve just signed up but aren’t sure which hero to add to your cart – check out our beauty team’s expert overview of the best Beauty Pie products, plus everything you need to know about the brand.

What is Beautypie?

Think of Beauty Pie as a luxury beauty subscription club. The brand is the brainchild of Marcia Kilgore, the entrepreneur behind iconic brands such as Soap & Glory and Bliss.

Sign up to become a member and you’ll get access to luxury cosmetics at factory prices, removing the markups on excess packaging, marketing and retail middlemen. One thing they don’t skimp on, however, is quality. These products are formulated by some excellent dermatologists and made in brilliant laboratories. Simply put, Beauty Pie gives customers the opportunity to purchase luxury beauty products at cost price.

If there is a product that you like the look of, but do not want to take out a membership, you can also purchase the items at the ‘regular price’. However, it’s hard to justify when you see the prices stacked against each other. For example, the excellent Super Healthy Skin Body Cream costs £15.50 for members, but the quality and allowances would give this product a typical price of £60.

How does Beauty Pie work?

First you need to sign up for a membership. Beauty Pie only makes a profit from its members’ subscriptions.

There are two membership options. The first is an annual subscription of £4.95 per month, or a monthly subscription of £10 per month. You can cancel at any time by completing a cancellation form.

You can also sign up for a 30-day free trial to see if you like the site and products.

Unlike the previous tiered membership system, there is no longer a limit on how often you can shop or how much you can buy, so you can stock up on as much as you want.

They have recommended the brand to family and friends without hesitation; not only are the products excellent, but you can more or less buy an entire beauty routine in one place.

Beauty Pie Youthbomb Serum Review

Membership price: €44

Price for non-members: € 185,-

Now. It says something when a brand’s most expensive product is also its best-selling product, right? When Red’s Senior Beauty Editor, Alexandra Friend, first tried this product, she immediately understood why this was so. This serum is a workhorse if there ever was one. In short, it’s packed with ingredients that plump the skin and restore bounce and glow (think ceramides, peptides, hydrators). There’s no such thing as a miracle treatment, but everyone we know who uses this says their skin looks and feels better overnight. Alexandra is on bottle number 3 and shows no signs of stopping anytime soon.

Beauty Pie Super Healthy Skin Review

Membership price: €13.50

Price for non-members: €50

Applying SPF every morning would be a treat if they all felt as dreamy as this. It has a light lotion texture that absorbs easily. The best part? It works exceptionally well under makeup, even if you apply a lot of it. There’s no pilling or rolling to be seen: just an ultra-comfortable satin-like finish, leaving the skin soft and subtly glowing.

Beauty Pie Wonderfilter review

Membership price: €14

Price for non-members: €30

While some setting sprays leave an uncomfortable, shrink-wrapped feeling on the skin. Instead, this feels more like a skincare-style facial mist, and it’s packed with ingredients that suggest it is (think niacinamide and aloe vera). However, it works like a setting spray: a few spritzes soften the shine and keep the makeup in place, keeping it looking fresh for longer. A smart purchase for the summer.

Beauty Pie Super Retinol Review

Membership price: €15

Price for non-members: €75

To soften fine lines around the eyes, you need retinol. A surprising amount of eye creams don’t have this. Beauty Pie’s offering is just as effective as you’d expect: yes, there’s retinol (but in a slow-release form designed to be gentle around the eyes), and hyaluronic acid and plant extracts to counteract potential irritation. It’s thoughtful, it works hard and will slowly but steadily make a difference to making the eye contour look fresher and brighter.

Beauty Pie Superluminous Skin Glow Filter Review

Membership price: €20

Price for non-members: €50

Red’s beauty team is hard to please when it comes to foundation and foundation. However, we’re impressed with Beauty Pie’s latest offering: a skin tint that feels more skincare than makeup. There’s only a suggestion of opacity here, which is just enough to create a veil of tint and hide minor redness or blemishes. The finish is glossy (not glossy) and lasts beautifully all day as it blends into the skin. We like to apply it with our fingers, sweeping it over the skin and pressing it in for an unnoticeable finish.

Beauty Pie Triple Hyaluronic Acid Review

Membership price: €24

Price for non-members: €90

You’d be surprised how difficult it can be to get hyaluronic acid right. In too many formulas, the ingredient can feel sticky, dreary, or drying and remain sticky under makeup. Forget those: Beauty Pie’s serum is a masterclass in that. There are three weights of hyaluronic acid here for ample penetration and hydration, as well as line-smoothing peptides and ceramides to nourish the skin barrier. The texture is also excellent: gel-like and fast-absorbing, without even a hint of stickiness. Beauty Pie cuts and changes their product inventory often, but we don’t expect this to go anywhere.

Beauty Pie AcidEnzyme Review

Membership price: €28.50

Price for non-members: €60

It’s okay to have doubts about a cleanser that claims to be suitable for both face and body; so were we. This is one that contains salicylic acid and enzymes that act like a Pac-Man duo to nibble away at clogged spots and really smooth the skin. It’s a great post-exercise to really get rid of all that perspiration, as well as the upper extremities to smooth out areas with Keratosis Pilaris or KP (those little red bumps so many of us have). It foams only slightly so is gentle enough to use on the face, especially on the T-zone or areas prone to breakouts. Expect brighter, softer skin.

Beauty Pie Superluminous Review

Membership price: €12

Price for non-members: €25

Dark circles and discolorations around the eyes are best addressed with careful color correction. These creamy pots neutralize dark spots in the inner corners of the eyes and are best applied under your favorite concealer for full coverage. Because they are best worn under concealer, their texture is soft and moisturizing, melting into the skin with the warmth of a finger. These provide instant lift and brightness and are an excellent way to fake more hours of rest.

Beauty Pie Shinkai Electrolyte Drench Review

Membership price: €34

Price for non-members: €100

Hydration always makes skin look better, which is why we can’t get enough of this moisturizer that lends it out in buckets. The gel texture is so light that it practically melts into the skin before you have a chance to rub it in, leaving behind only a beautiful, natural glow. All skin types will benefit from this, but oilier types will especially love how fresh this feels.

Beauty Pie Velvety review

Membership price: €12

Price for non-members: €20

These soft lip crayons are a masterclass in matte: soft, plush and not at all drying. These are so easy to scribble on the lips for opaque color, and can be built up without any feeling of dryness. If your lips lean toward the drier side, apply a lip balm first for maximum comfort; although we think you’ll be surprised by the creaminess of this matte texture.

Beauty Pie Clean House Candle Review

Membership price: €60

Price for non-members: €20

Our beauty writer, Phoebe Lee, covets just about every candle she finds; That’s why she has lit quite a few over the years in her search for her favorite. The projection of this scent is one that sparked her love for Beauty Pie’s candle offering. When lit, it reaches almost every corner of a room and smells wonderful even when not lit. The scent is fresh, comforting and familiar; she stocks up with every order she places.
