Mikel Arteta is so meticulous in his preparations that he knows he doesn’t have to say much when it comes to big games like this. All the work has been done on the training pitch, with Arsenal’s players trained to target Bayern Munich’s soft centre. Arteta certainly knows what not to say. He will not mention the 10-2 aggregate defeat the last time the two teams met, but will rightly describe it as “history” when inevitably asked on the eve of the match.
It’s just not relevant to his current Arsenal players as no one was involved. It is hardly relevant to Bayern’s current squad as only five were involved.
