Nicole Scherzinger, Sarah Jessica Parker, Andrew Scott and Sarah Snook are all in the running for this year’s Olivier Awards after the nominations were announced this afternoon, with the National Theater underlining its stellar year with a total of 15 nods.
The National Theatre’s Dear England is this year’s most celebrated play, with nine nominations, including Rupert Goold for Best Director and Joseph Fiennes for Best Actor.
Meanwhile, the most nominated musical is Jamie Lloyd’s musical Sunset Boulevard, starring Scherzinger. Director Jamie Lloyd’s remake of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical has earned eleven nominations, including for Scherzinger as Best Actress in a Musical.
A number of star names have been nominated, including some known for their film work: Sarah Jessica Parker and Sarah Snook have received their first Olivier Award nominations for Plaza Suite and The Picture Of Dorian Gray, respectively. James Norton is nominated for his role in A Little Life, Andrew Scott for Vanya and Sheridan Smith for Shirley Valentine.
