Chelsea will look to take advantage of an extra 48 hours of rest compared to Manchester City when the two sides meet at Wembley on Saturday evening. The Blues are aiming for a fourth FA Cup final in five years, while their opponents aim to be crowned winners for the second season in a row.

However, Mauricio Pochettino’s side come into the match in better form after hammering Everton on Monday evening. Pep Guardiola’s side will have to respond to having their high hopes dashed in a penalty shootout defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.

The reigning cup holders were taken to 120 minutes and beyond by Carlo Ancelotti and have a big task to recover physically and mentally. Chelsea have more tangible problems of their own after even more fitness issues became apparent against Everton.

Here, football.london has the latest news from the Blues treatment room.

Noni Madueke

Noni Madueke was withdrawn in the 72nd minute against Everton after being on the end of a number of strong challenges that saw him need to be seen by club physios. Despite having his number on display, Madueke appeared to be trying to signal to the bench that he was still fine to continue despite coming off worse for wear from one of those challenges.

When replaced by Carney Chukwuemeka, Madueke headed straight into the tunnel but later returned to watch the final minutes from the bench.

Possible return date: Manchester City (N) – FA Cup Semi-Final – Saturday April 20.
