The 2023/24 Premier League season has started and you can follow every match and goal right here on The Independent.
This year, Manchester City will look to defend the crown and claim a historic fourth title in a row. Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering City, who also won the Champions League and FA Cup last season, will have to take on Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and the rest to claim an unprecedented sixth league title in seven years.
Meanwhile, Luton Town make their first appearance in the Premier League, having risen from non-league after an incredible decade of progress. They followed championship winners Burnley and Sheffield United into second place in earning promotion to the top flight.

Craig Dawson kept Haaland calm in the reverse fixture but he is out due to injury, while Pedro Neto is also out. Hwang Hee-chan scored his first goal since December to give Gary O’Neil’s men the lead before Toti Gomes doubled their lead just five minutes after the restart. Carlton Morris provided a consolation for the Hatters, but the Old Gold held on for the win which pushed them up to eleventh in the table. Wolves will be looking to sneak into the top half with three games to go and are just three points behind West Ham, but are without manager O’Neil today, with the 40-year-old handed a one-match ban for his conduct after their 2-1 loss to the Hammers. Victory may seem unlikely for the visitors, but earlier this season they defeated the Premier League champions at Molineux.

City are aiming for a fourth consecutive Premier League title and are four points behind Arsenal, who defeated Bournemouth 3-0 earlier today. The Citizens are unbeaten in their previous 19 top-flight games since a 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa in December and recorded a win against tough Nottingham Forest in their last outing. Pep Guardiola’s men were in second place for most of the match, with an xG (expected goals) of 0.87 compared to the Tricky Trees’ 1.93, but goals either side of half-time from Josko Gvardiol and Erling Haaland helped them to a 2-0. triumph. City are in great scoring form, having scored 19 goals in their previous five Premier League matches, and will look to put pressure on the Gunners at the top of the table.
