The best MagSafe accessories for your iPhone in 2024, tested and reviewed

I’ve been an iPhone user since the beginning, but it wasn’t until recently that I discovered and really fell in love with MagSafe. Apple’s technology allows a wide range of accessories to hitch a ride on my phone (or vice versa) and snap into place with a magnetic embrace that’s both satisfying and secure. There are power banks, desk stands, car holders, wallets and more, all compatible with the iPhone 12 and up. Below I have summarized what I think are the best MagSafe accessories you can get.

These aren’t just random picks, either: I’ve tested most of these products and can confirm that they’ve earned a spot on our list. The few I didn’t test are included based on several criteria, including price, reputation, user reviews, and comparison to competing products.

MagSafe accessories come in all shapes and sizes: power banks, wallets, car holders, phone stands and much more. (Photos, clockwise from left: Fokimdo, ExtreLife, iOttie, ESR)

One important note before we dive in: All of these products work fine with a “naked” iPhone, but if you keep yours in a case (which you should), make sure it’s MagSafe compatible — which means that it has an exposed or embedded magnetic case ring to extend the reach of MagSafe to the back of the case. Otherwise, your accessories may not lock well enough. (Good news: If you like your existing case but it doesn’t support MagSafe, you can buy a cheap upgrade kit. Read more about it below.)

ZtotopCases

With a price tag typically around $10, this simple MagSafe wallet is a great bargain. The slightly stretchy pocket can hold up to five cards, and the clever fold-out stand (also magnetic) lets you prop your phone upright for hands-free viewing. You have to pop that stand open to push your cards out, but that’s the only usability wrinkle in an otherwise useful – and very affordable – accessory.

ESR

If your favorite phone case doesn’t have a MagSafe passthrough, you can add the ESR HaloLock to the back of it. It’s actually an adhesive MagSafe ring, a kind of magnet conversion kit. And ESR supplies a handy printed installation manual, so you can be sure you install it exactly right. You can obtain the HaloLock in three colors of your choice: black, white or blue.

Mozoter

The bargain we have to beat is that Mozoter’s 10,000mAh battery pack costs less than half of some others – and it has a few special tricks up its sleeve. Firstly, it’s waterproof and shockproof, with snazzy orange corner bumpers to help it survive drops. Secondly, it has a 3-mode LED light panel on the back, useful for basic flashlight purposes or even as a fill light for recording videos. I’m amazed at what good value this is.

EWA

This ingenious MagSafe ring combines a silicone finger strap in the center with a fold-out stand for hands-free phone viewing (vertically or horizontally). It has a super low profile so you’ll barely notice it’s there, and it doesn’t need to be removed for in-car mounting or wireless charging. The price feels a bit high, but probably worth it; this is one of my favorite MagSafe accessories.

Sinjimoru

Most MagSafe wallets are just pockets; the M-Card Zip is a sleek, dual-ply plastic sleeve with room for up to three cards on the left and some cash on the right. The same elastic band that holds the money provides a comfortable multi-finger phone grip on the outside of the case, and attached to it is a cleverly designed silicone band that folds into a phone stand (albeit only for landscape viewing). You also get a little strap that allows you to optionally attach the wallet to your phone case, in case it gets loose in your bag or something. I’m concerned about the longevity of the plastic clasp that keeps the wallet closed, but overall I really like this design.

ExtreLife

If you like the idea of a MagSafe wallet, you might like this even more: ExtreLife’s card holder includes a spot for an AirTag (not included), meaning if the wallet ever gets lost, you can find it more easily. Meanwhile, the elastic fabric allows you to carry up to seven cards, not just two or three as in some wallets.

The Stick Company

Take a strong but flexible metal wire with silicone coating, wrap it around a magnetic disk and you have the IMStick.Pro. This flexible phone holder works as a stand, bike mount, tripod holder, finger grip and more. The back is also magnetic, so you can attach it to a MagSafe car or desk holder. (It doesn’t support pass-through charging, though, so you’ll need to remove it for that.) The wire can be a little fiddly to use, but I can’t argue with the versatility of this thing.

UCOMX

When you travel, don’t bring a mess of charging cables and AC adapters with you, not if you have Apple products. This super handy 3-in-1 charging station includes a MagSafe pad for your iPhone and wireless docks for your Apple Watch and AirPods. When not in use, it folds into a travel-friendly stack, but it also converts into a stand for hands-free phone viewing. This is what I pack for trips now; When I arrive, I set it up next to my bed so I can easily charge all my Apple devices overnight.

The Geo is available in black or brown and combines four useful functions in one accessory. It is a wallet with three cards, a kickstand, a finger grip and an AirTag. Well, sort of: there’s AirTag-like functionality in that the Geo is fully compatible with Apple Find My (unlike Apple’s own wallet, which has only rudimentary Find My support). So if the wallet gets lost, you can easily determine its location. However, the battery only lasts three months and the charging cable is a proprietary product, but that doesn’t stop me from really liking this product; it’s one of my favorite MagSafe accessories.

Basicus

With its 10,000 mAh battery, this power bank can hold more energy than most other power banks, so you can keep your phone running better until you can find a power outlet. But it also has raised magnets to help reduce overheating, a kickstand that allows hands-free viewing in portrait and landscape modes, and a digital readout on the back that shows how much charge is left. I especially like the 24-month warranty and the fact that there is often a discount or coupon that reduces the price.

PopSocket users are a loyal group, so it can be difficult for someone who is used to using one to live without it. If that’s you, this is the battery you should get. Anker has essentially grafted one of the small pop-out handles onto an otherwise fairly standard 5,000mAh charger. The nice thing is that it can also be used as a stand, but only in landscape orientation. Wait for a sale; I’ve seen it as low as $40.

iOttie

If you’re going to use your phone for in-car navigation and the like, I highly recommend a holder that keeps it at eye level. The Velox Pro can suction to your windshield or dashboard, giving your phone not only a secure MagSafe holder, but also a charger. Worried about heat damage from the sun? Have no fear: this thing also has a fan to keep everything cool. I’m not crazy about the cord that runs from the holder to your car’s power jack, but there’s no way around it; The power has to come from somewhere!

When you look at the Anker 637, you see a desk charging cradle for your phone, but it’s much more than that. Look at the back and you’ll find three power outlets, two USB Type-A ports, and two USB-C ports. In other words, this thing is the whole powerhouse, capable of delivering juice to up to eight (!) items at once. I have to admit that I like a desktop holder more than I thought; it keeps the screen upright so I don’t have to reach for the phone every time a notification comes through.
