But who will have a viral fashion moment this year?
More from WWD
Over the past decade, the Golden Globe Awards red carpet has served as the stage for many fashion statements that ended up on Google’s most searched clothing lists and praised (or not) on Instagram, Twitter and TikTok.
Here, WWD looks back at some of the Golden Globes red carpet dresses that have generated interest online over the years:
Jennifer Lawrence, 2014
Wearing a white dress with black straps from Dior, Lawrence saw her look turned into a meme online, compared to a scene from ‘The Little Mermaid’ and recreated by several social media influencers with white sheets. That year, the actress won Best Supporting Actress for her role in David O. Russell’s “American Hustle.” Now she’s nominated for best performance by an actress in a motion picture, musical or comedy for “No Hard Feelings.”
Kate Hudson, 2015
Kate Hudson, one of the presenters of the 2015 Golden Globes, turned heads as she walked the event’s red carpet in her white Versace dress, which featured cutouts in the bodice that transitioned into a backless silhouette.
Jane Fonda, 2016
Jane Fonda showed up at the 2016 Golden Globes in a dramatic silhouette. The Hollywood icon, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her work in “Youth,” wore a white ruffled dress by Yves Saint Laurent. Later, Fonda revealed that she chose the dress to cover her bandages after a mastectomy procedure. The actress has spoken publicly about her past battles with cancer. In 2022, she was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and later, in December of the same year, revealed that she was in remission.
Brie Larson, 2017

Leave it to Lady Gaga to create a viral fashion moment. The singer wore a dramatic blue Valentino dress on the red carpet at the 2019 Golden Globes.
